MINI-PROJECT WITH GENIALLY (in progress)

GENIALLY: “SELLING A PRODUCT”

  • Present a plan which shows clearly the staging of the activities that the students used to prepare the project (e.g. Stage 1. Choose topic and establish groups; 2) choose modality of Genially…)

1.     Students chose a product that they were going to sell. It could exist or they could be creative and come up with an invention that people would be interested in buying.

2.     In their presentations, they had to include a description of the product, its benefits, price, logo, slogan… and could include testimonials, demonstrations, commercials…

3.     I showed them a little presentation on advertising aims and techniques.

4.     I let them get into groups of 2 or 3 of their choice. That way they would feel more comfortable and they could get together after school more easily if needed. Some of groups made little videos in their houses.

5.     They chose the presentation modality. All of them were familiar with Genially, so no explanation on how it works was needed.

6.     I showed them the rubric I would use to grade their presentations.

  • Comment on how decisions were taken as to the grouping of students and timings of the project.

Grouping: as I said before, I let them get into groups of 2 or 3 of their choice. That way they would feel more comfortable and they could get together after school more easily if needed. Some of groups made little videos in their houses. I let them choose the role each one had in the project.

Timing:

Half a session: explanation of the project and advertising techniques. One session:  I took my students to the computer room to start working on their projects for the entire hour with my guidance.

Half a session: for final “touches” and questions.

Presentations: each day 2 groups presented their work and the rest had to say 1 reason why they would buy the product and one reason why they wouldn’t.

  • A sample of any additional materials you used (handouts, project planners etc.)

Additional material:presentation on advertising

  • Links to the projects made by your students (you can choose the best ones to upload) waiting for the links

  • Video, Audio and/or photos of the presentations. coming up

  • Lastly, do not forget to reflect on how the use of the tool has optimized your students’ learning experience and has helped you achieve the objectives. Would you change anything?

Using Genially has made students presentations on product advertising very appealing and fun by infusing them with dynamic visuals, interactive elements, and storytelling. With its user-friendly interface and diverse templates, Genially facilitates the creation process, enabling students to craft presentations that engage audiences effectively. This optimization enhances comprehension, retention, and overall presentation impact, elevating the learning experience for both presenters and viewers. When giving their oral presentations, students feel more confident when they are supported by a Genially presentation.

I wouldn’t change much, maybe some of the content in some ads might look a little bit “disrespectful” because they made reference to some people in the class to test the results of their product but I know, because I know the students in this class really well, that it was in a fun way and they didn’t mean to make fun of anybody.
